Much to the dismay of many Myrtle Beach Locals and many visitors of Myrtle Beach the Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park will be closed down after this last year of operation. Also going with it will be the Attic teen club that hosts a cable channel show of its activities and the 4D theatre directly beneath the club. Many people have speculated that the owners of the park might move it to the location where the old Myrtle Square Mall is currently being demolished but no statements have been made to any such effect. One thing is for sure the Pavilion will close after this summer and many people are upset. There are even online petitions taking place but to no avail since the final decision has been made.

So what do we have to look forward to in the amusement arena for Myrtle Beach? Well there are still other attractions all over the Grand Strand such as the Family Kindom Family Amusement and Water Park just a short drive south of the Pavilion. Also there is a brand new attraction being built right now for completion soon near 14th Ave North on the Ocean Boulivard known to locals as the "big ole sling shot". It's actually a ride where one to four people are strapped into a ball cage and sling shotted straight up in the air over 200 feet connected by a bungee type device. Sounds a little too exciting for me. I think I will just be watching, I am sure it will be just as fun fun!
